ECI Trucks Welcomes David Lockhart as New Owner!
East Coast International Welcomes New Leader and Renews Commitment to Customer
Atlantic Canada native makes connecting with the customer a top priority
Moncton, New Brunswick – June 2, 2014: On June 2, 2014, East Coast International Trucks Inc. (ECI), an
International® truck dealership with locations in Moncton, Dartmouth, Saint John and Truro, welcomed
David Lockhart as the new owner. While the company continues with the same name, it begins a new,
long-haul journey to build customer loyalty with the mantra; “mutual success is mandatory.”
“When a customer invests in an East Coast International piece of equipment, we are not just the seller,
we are now part of their business,” said Lockhart. “Finding creative ways to keep our customers’ wheels
on the road is our mandate.”
An Atlantic Canada native, Lockhart began his career as a young man in his family’s building supply
store, where customer care was paramount. Lockhart purchased Provincial Western Star in 1997,
followed by Evangeline Truck assets in 2001, which together became Lockhart Truck Centre. He later
sold Lockhart Truck Centre. Having 16 years of experience in the truck OEM business market, Lockhart is
committed to creating partnerships where customers see the value in doing business with ECI. Now,
four locations strong, Lockhart plans to grow ECI by building a team of people who share this passion
towards customer care.
Based on his industry experience, Lockhart knows how valuable road-time is. “Time is a critical component; when a customer’s truck goes down, we need to find creative ways to get them up and running faster than ever. If our customers aren’t out on the road making money, then we aren’t holding up our end of the partnership.”
Lockhart’s new approach is pushing the ECI team to go beyond being customer-service oriented. Under his leadership, the shift to a customer-focussed organization is a new cultural standard. All customer- facing staff are empowered to build connections with and own their customer relationships. “It’s my goal to align the ECI sales team directly with their customer,” shared Lockhart. “They will not only take the time to understand every customer’s business and their unique challenges, but they will be motivated to advocate on behalf of the customer for the best possible solution.”
ECI is not only investing in training, tooling and facilities, it is also investing in staff. Its focus on encouraging, and providing resources for a health and wellness lifestyle from the top down, is a key driver in setting ECI apart.
“A company is only as strong as its staff and its customer loyalty,” concluded Lockhart. “We are building a dedicated team at ECI that will be here for the duration to surpass the needs of each and every customer.”
